Maps & Parking

These directions are designed to take you directly to the Visitor Center. If you have a specific lodging or other site that you will need to visit, adjust these directions accordingly. Be alert that the County Road 37 entrance to New Ulm will take you more directly to some south-side lodging and other attractions and is not part of these directions.

West Bound – Take Highway 14, passing through the small towns of Nicollet and Courtland. Continue west on Highway 14 (do not turn on County Road 37) until you come to the stop light that marks the intersection of Highways 14 and 15. Turn left, passing over the Minnesota River. Take a left at the 2nd street possible, Minnesota Street. Continue on for 7 blocks and the Visitor Center is on the right-hand corner of Center and Minnesota Streets.

East Bound – Take Highway 14, passing through the small towns of Sleepy Eye and Essig. As you enter New Ulm, K-Mart and the City Cemetery are on your left. The road gently curves right, as Highway 14 becomes Broadway. Continue on Broadway until 1st North, where you will turn left for 1 block to Minnesota Street. Turn right on Minnesota Street and the Visitor Center is 1 block ahead on the right-hand corner of Center and Minnesota Streets.

North Bound – Take Highway 15, passing through the small towns of Madelia and Searles. As you enter New Ulm, Highway 15 becomes Broadway. Continue on Broadway to the center of town, until 1st North, where you will turn right for 1 block. Turn right on Minnesota Street and the Visitor Center is 1 block ahead on the right-hand corner of Center and Minnesota Streets.

South Bound – Take Highway 15, passing through the small towns of Lafayette and Klossner. As you come down the hill, you’ll see an intersection with Highway 14 and a flashing yellow light. Pass through this intersection and over the Minnesota River. Take a left at the 2nd street possible, Minnesota Street. Continue on for 7 blocks and the Visitor Center is on the right-hand corner of Center and Minnesota Streets.

From the Twin Cities – get to Shakopee and take Highway 169 South. Take this 4-lane road for about 55 miles until you come to the town of St. Peter. As you drive through St. Peter, know that 169 is their main street. At the far south end of town, turn right on Highway 99. You’ll come to Nicollet where Highway 99 is their main street. Go all the way through town to the west end where Highway 99 meets Highway 14. Turn right and go 15 miles to New Ulm, passing through the small town of Courtland. Continue westward (do not turn on County Road 37) until you come to the stop light that marks the intersection of Highways 14 and 15. Turn left, passing over the Minnesota River. Take a left at the 2nd street possible, Minnesota Street. Continue on for 7 blocks and the Visitor Center is on the right-hand corner of Center and Minnesota Streets.
