On the lawn of the Brown County Courthouse proudly rests a memorial that pays a lasting tribute to all Brown County veterans- past, present, and future.
The Brown County Veterans’ Memorial was dedicated on Veterans’ Day (November 11), 1999, after two long years of planning and construction. Years later, the memorial’s maximum capacity of 2,155 paver stones was rapidly filling the allotted space. A plan was devised to install vertical granite panels designed to accommodate memorial engravings on each side.
In the late fall of 2014, the final paver stones were laid. The following year, four vertical black granite panels were lowered into place, which will allow for engravings as a lasting tribute for decades to come.
If you would like to honor a veteran, living or deceased, you may purchase a memorial engraving with his/her name, rank, and period of service as a lasting memorial in their honor. Contact the Brown County Veterans Service Office for more information 507-233-6636.
Location: 14 South State Street, on the front yard of the Brown County Courthouse.
