The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently visited Citizens Bank Minnesota to celebrate a significant milestone – 150 years of service. Founded on February 1, 1876, Citizens Bank has been a cornerstone of the New Ulm community for generations. Originally located across the street from its current site, the bank moved to its present location in the early 1900s and continues to operate from a building rich with history.
During the visit, Willkommen members learned more about the depth of experience that defines Citizens. With decades of leadership tenure and a board rooted in agriculture, business, and community service, the bank emphasizes stability, local decision-making, and long-term relationships. Today, Citizens Bank Minnesota operates six locations, with New Ulm serving as the main office.
The bank is marking its anniversary with a year-long celebration, including employee and client appreciation events, a New Ulm All-Client Appreciation Event on July 21 at the Brown County Fairgrounds, and participation in community traditions such as Bavarian Blast and the Parade of Lights. Each location will also host a medallion hunt with a $150 prize. Looking ahead, Citizens is preparing for a major internal system upgrade in 2026 to improve efficiency while remaining seamless for customers.
Located at 105 N Minnesota St, if you’re interested in learning more, visit their website or call (507) 354-3165.
The Chamber congratulates Citizens Bank Minnesota on 150 years of service and looks forward to celebrating throughout the year.
