The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting at MLC’s Betty Kohn Fieldhouse. Assistant Athletic Director Randy Cox gave a tour and Interim Athletic Director Dave Biedenbender talked about the opportunities now that they have this new facility. Batting practice used to be in the basement at the college and there was no place for track and field practice. They now hold physical education classes, intramurals, practice for baseball, softball, soccer and golf with the golf simulator. Outside, new tennis courts were added to the campus. A capitol campaign was held to raise some of the funds. The Kohn family made a sizable donation. The building has a steel frame and a fabric roof. The turf is the same as what is used at the U S Bank Stadium. They hope to be able to offer the facility for community use in the future.
