Recently the Willkommen Committee welcomed the new editor of The Journal, Craig Peterson, to New Ulm.  Peterson took over the position after former editor Kevin Sweeney retired earlier in the year.  Peterson grew up in Northern Illinois and, after graduating with a degree in Journalism, began his career in Texas as a Sports Editor.  After some time in Texas he moved back to Illinois and worked for several different newspapers and as a Librarian for ten years.  More recently he was working in the Twin Cities before taking the position as Editor of the Journal.  Peterson has family in the Twin Cities.  Even though times are changing, Peterson sees the community newspaper as a way to connect an area.
