New Ulm history behind newly remodeled movie theater!
Lyric 3

The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently visited new chamber member The Lyric 3 movie theater, and celebrated their grand re-opening after an extensive remodel, with a ribbon cutting ceremony! Mary Ann Christensen is passionate about movie theaters because of fond memories of when she was a child. When she heard AMC was closing theaters she knew she must act. Mary Ann did not just want to save the community from another empty building, but the memories families would miss out on. That’s where Phoenix Theaters Entertainment, LLC. came in. Their mission is to help local owners of theaters maintain a quality venue in their community. Mary Ann got together with Adam Reinhart, Gary Koch, and Kaitlyn Pals to form the company Standing Room Only, LLC, and they purchased the theater. The building got interior and exterior renovations, heating and cooling revamp, powered reclining seats with trays and cup holders, new carpeting, new and expanded concession area, and exterior paint along with new signage outside. Mary Ann explained the choice to call it the Lyric 3. It is a throw back to the first movie theater ‘The Lyric’ that opened in New Ulm in 1930 and operated until 1955, and the number ‘3’ for the three screens the movie theater houses. The renovation work was also completed by as many local New Ulm businesses as they could possibly use! Thank you for your investment in the chamber and congratulations on the remodel, Lyric 3!
