New Banners on Broadway!
banners

New Ulm is in the process of installing brand new colorful banners along Broadway all throughout town!  The banners will be hung from 12th South St to 17th North St along Hwy 14/15 (Broadway) and on 7th North Street from Broadway to Spring St.  The banners depict 20 of New Ulm’s attractions, including Schell’s Brewery, the Brown County Historical Society, the Hermann Monument, and the Wanda Gag House.

The new banners are a collaborative project between the New Ulm Convention & Visitors Bureau, the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce, and the City of New Ulm.  Committee members met for more than a year to determine the style of the banners and what would be depicted on them.  Under their direction, the banners were designed by Lime Valley Advertising using local photography from Kyle Krenz, Carolyn Marti Smith, Chad Wengert, Mark Boettger, Bill Pekrul, and from the Chamber of Commerce.  The banners were ordered through Printwear Graphics.  The new banners have a 3-year warranty against fading, and are projected to last 10 years.

The updated banner design features two banners per pole, which means new hardware needs to be constructed onto the Broadway poles.  Because of this and the street department’s busy summer schedule, the installation process is taking place on Fridays throughout the summer.  The Chamber and the City are already hearing many positive comments about the new banners and we are excited to have them up for all locals, tourists, and everyone passing through town to enjoy.

Thank you to the Banner Committee for their work on this project, and thank you to the New Ulm Area Foundation and Duane & Cleo Bohne for their financial support of this project. Donations are still being accepted.  Please contact the Chamber for further details: 507-233-4300, chamber@newulm.com
