The Willkommen Committee stopped by the new MonaLena Kitchen + Bar to celebrate the new business with a ribbon cutting and to welcome them as new Chamber Members of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce. Mona is originally from New York Mills, and her husband Paul grew up in Gibbon and always wanted to open a winery in the MN River Valley. He began Doppeleichen Vineyards in 2011 just outside of New Ulm. With the Hwy 14/15 Gateway road construction project, getting to their vineyard is going to be very difficult the next two years, so they began looking at in-town options. They purchased the Pub and Patio bar in November and have been doing some remodeling, including adding a kitchen. Mona has always been passionate about pairing food and wine, and is excited about this new venture. Mona stressed that they are not just serving their wines, but also wines from around the world, craft beer, and high-end cocktails. Stop by their location at 225 N Minnesota and check them out!
