The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently stopped by the Northwestern Mutual offices at 422 Center Street to meet new owner Derek Skovbroten.  Derek is taking over the practice from Marv Augustin.  Derek began his practice in Mankato, but wanted to bring it to New Ulm because “this is home for us.”  Derek, a Sleepy Eye native, and his wife Katelyn, a New Ulm native, met while in high school and have always wanted to raise their family in New Ulm. Katelyn works part-time in the office with Derek.  Northwestern Mutual focuses on investment and creating effective financial plans with their clients.  They also offers a variety of insurance services including life, disability, and long-term care.
