New Ulm’s celebration is listed along with Fredericksburg, TX, Leavenworth, WA, Big Bear Lake, CA, and Helen, GA. We’re thrilled to be included in the list! According to the article, our Oktoberfest has something for everyone – “but not in a watered-down way.” We agree! For example: at the Downtown Festival, both Saturday’s start with traditional German and polka music with The Schell’s Hobo Band (Oct 8, 11am-2pm) and The Wendinger Band (Oct 15, 11am-2pm). Beginning at 2pm, the music turns more contemporary with The Church of Cash (Oct 8, 2-5pm) and Switch Road Band (Oct 15, 2-5pm). And at the Best Western Plus, they have the old-tyme music indoors and the Rocktoberfest celebration outside under the tent both weekends. Finally, Schell’s Oktoberfest (Oct 15) is a party that appeals to all ages!
