The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting to welcome The Fusion Bar & Grill, a new restaurant in New Ulm created by owners Juan Ocampo and Janete Alvarez, who also own Plaza Garibaldi.

After more than 20 years in the community, they wanted to offer something different – bringing a wider variety of foods and flavors to town so people don’t have to travel to find them. Much of the menu reflects dishes they enjoy at home, with influences from a mix of cultures and spices. Early favorites include the Korean Bowl, along with options such as steak, salmon, sushi, and more.

Their team includes a staff of about 15 employees. While they continue to operate Plaza Garibaldi, there is no shared staff between the two restaurants. The owners noted strong support from the community so far, including help from Martin Luther College students who have joined their team.

The group also discussed how the menu will continue to evolve. When asked about traditional New Ulm favorites, the owners shared that their “Hermann” dish includes sauerkraut, and they plan to incorporate additional German-inspired items such as German potato salad.

The Fusion Bar & Grill is open for lunch and dinner, weekdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to midnight or later.

Located at 1627 S Broadway St, if you’re interested in learning more, visit their website, check them out on Facebook, or call (507) 233-2555.

Congratulations, The Fusion Bar & Grill, and thank you for your investment in the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce!
