#LoyalToLocalNU Holiday Passport

From November 1-30, the #LoyalToLocalNU Holiday Passport program encourages shoppers to support local businesses by collecting stamps for purchases, including gift cards. Completed passports can be submitted for a chance to win $1,000 or $500 in Chamber Dollars, with all entries due by December 3rd. The winner will be drawn on December 5th.

Shopping Opener

The New Ulm Shopping Opener will take place from November 7-9, celebrating the start of the shopping season with local businesses offering unique deals and interactive “hunts.”

Weihnachts Markt – New Ulm Holiday Market

Kick off the holiday season in true German style at the inaugural Weihnachts Markt: New Ulm Holiday Market! Taking place on the same day as the Parade of Lights, this outdoor event will feature live reindeer, a vendor market, entertainment, food, and family fun all afternoon – concluding with the official lighting of the Upside Down Christmas Tree at 5pm. Join us on Friday, November 28th from 11am – 5pm.

40 foot Upside Down Christmas Tree

As the holiday season arrives in New Ulm, the “Christmas City” continues a spectacular new tradition for the second year – a 40-foot upside-down Christmas tree proudly displayed for all to enjoy. This unique installation not only celebrates our community’s deep German heritage but also showcases the creativity and collaboration that define New Ulm. Rooted in history and rich with meaning, this tree is more than just a festive decoration – it’s a symbol of unity, tradition, and holiday cheer.

Parade of Lights

Scheduled for Friday, November 28, at 6 PM, the 37th Annual Parade of Lights will celebrate the holiday season in New Ulm’s downtown area, attracting thousands of spectators. The parade will run from 4th S to 4th N on Minnesota St. Local businesses and organizations are invited to participate for a fee, with the opportunity to host additional holiday activities to enhance the event’s community spirit. Registration is due by November 7.

Small Business Saturday / Shop Small Saturday

On Saturday, November 29, local businesses participating in Small Business Saturday will be offering deals and incentives to customers.

#ShopNewUlm At Night

Mark your calendars for #ShopNewUlm At Night on Thursday, December 11, from 4-8 PM, featuring participating shops with refreshments and promotions. Some businesses will be participating as a sip and shop location, so feel free to enjoy a drink while you shop!

Festive Facades (Storefront Holiday Decorating Contest)

Running from November 30 to December 31, the Festive Facades competition invites businesses to decorate their storefronts for the holiday season, with prizes for the top three displays. Registration is free for Chamber members, with the deadline to sign up by November 27, and public voting will determine the winners from November 30 through the end of the year. Winners will be announced on January 5, 2025.

Halloween Hop

Trick-or-Treat! Grab your costumes and your candy buckets! Our local businesses want to welcome you to the annual Halloween Hop! Saturday, October 25th, from 10am until 12pm, visit participating businesses and receive candy/treats. No purchase necessary.
