The Willkommen Committee recently visited ISD 88 Foundation to welcome Steph Kircher as their new Executive Director. Steph moved to New Ulm two years ago and fell in love with the community. She was originally a nurse, but had wanted to take a step back when she heard about this job opening. Steph runs the Foundation as a one-woman operation under the supervision of a board of twelve (of which there are three openings currently). The mission of the Foundation is to enhance the quality of education in ISD 88 by creating partnerships between our schools, our community and alumni. Steph does a lot of outreach and fundraising. Funds raised are used to provide advancements and enhancements such as STEAM Bots and the book vending machines, and offering grants and scholarships. The board receives direction and ideas from staff and teachers to help determine the best use of the funds. The Foundation’s largest fundraising event is the thee Eagles Extravaganza (coming up on April 8th at the Royal Oak Event Center – tickets are on sale now!) They also do smaller fundraising events throughout the year, and appreciate the support of individual donations from alumni and the community.
ISD 88 Foundation Offices are located at Washington Elementary School. If you’re interested in learning more, visit www.isd88foundation.org or call (507) 233-8313. Congratulations to Steph!
