The Willkommen Committee recently held a ribbon cutting at Ed’s Chop Shop to welcome them as a new business in New Ulm and a new member of the New Ulm Chamber. Owner and operator Edward Jones is originally from Chicago, has lived in Minnesota since he was 13, and has been cutting hair since he was 16. He didn’t start professionally until recently when he decided to pursue a passion for his career. With the help of the MN Valley Action Council (MVAC), he went to school full-time for nine months and was able to start his own barbershop. He says it’s been very humbling to see the recognition from the community and loves being able to do something good for someone. A new haircut “brings a shine on somebody’s face, and that’s what it’s about.” Always working to improve, Ed has plans to expand and maybe even get his instructor’s license and teach someday so that there can be more barbers in the area.
Ed’s Chop Shop is open every day except Monday, and although he has taken walk-ins, it’s been so busy lately that appointments are preferred. Located at 1606 S Broadway St, if you’re interested in learning more, visit https://www.edschopshop.space/ or call (612) 417-0904. Thank you, Ed’s Chop Shop, for your investment in New Ulm and for choosing to join the Chamber!
