The Willkommen Committee recently visited Schaefer Companies to welcome them as a new member of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce.  Schaefer has always been a family-owned business, currently run by Willis Schaefer, whose grandfather Arthur started the company.  Schaefer Well was founded in 1921, and over the years, the company has expanded to offer more, like Crane Services in 1981 and Contracting starting in 2021.  The first crane they ever purchased was a 12.5 ton that was recently use to hang the upside-down tree at Hermann Monument, but today they have 9 cranes, the biggest and newest being a 350-ton crane which has helped them to adapt to the ever growing demands of the industry of heavier materials and bigger buildings.  To stay on top of demands, Schaefer Companies ensures through continuing education and certifications that their employees are well trained and equipped for the wide range of services they offer.  They cater to a 2-hour range outside of New Ulm for well and crane services, with contracting having a slightly wider range, though the family-ownership of the company shines through in their goal to bring their guys home every evening.
