The Willkommen Committee recently visited New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) to celebrate several new providers.
Ben Tonsager, DPM, a podiatrist, recently moved to New Ulm with his wife and children. Having grown up in St. James, he had always wanted to come back to this area for work. Phong Truong, DO, is an orthopedic surgeon for pediatrics and adults who fell in love with the specialty after volunteering to work with kids suffering from muscular dystrophy. Both will also provide outreach to the Springfield clinic. Tawanna King, MD, was born and raised in Florida, has been working in the medical field since she was 17 years old, and first experienced a Minnesota winter while working as a travel doctor. All three started in September of this year.
Danyel Haime, MSN, APRN, started her position as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in July, but she has worked at the clinic as an RN for nine years. Shannon Helget, licensed therapist in the mental health department, started in May of 2024. She has worked in the mental health field for approximately 13 years. Dr. Ashley Strobel, Emergency Physician, started in August of this year but was unable to attend the visit and is not pictured.
