Message from the Board Chair,
First of all, as the Chair of the Chamber Board for the year 2015-16, I would like to thank all the membership for your continued support of this organization. Your commitment to the Chamber is vital to our mission, which is to support and strengthen our members through the promotion and development of the business community. The success of the business community creates opportunities for a variety of good jobs, which in turn leads to great school systems and quality health care as well as an attractive place to raise a family, start new businesses and retire.
The Chamber board and the Chamber employees are working hard to fulfill this mission. We are building strong bridges with our members and their talented and committed employees, education, local government and regional entities to move initiatives forward that will support business and job growth. We are committed to providing leadership development opportunities that our members and the community can participate in. We are also committed to recognizing the businesses, individuals, and organizations that are doing “work well”.
We host a variety of events and opportunities throughout the year and continue to serve as a resource for people looking to start a business, referrals for their business, job seekers and tourists. We continue to host the community calendar at the www.newulm.com website and offer to our members the opportunity to post at no additional cost their open employment positions and their “hot deals”.
Our priorities for this year include the ongoing concern of workforce shortage. More than ever we are promoting New Ulm as a great place to live and work and we are friendly to new businesses and newcomers. We work with local organizations to help newcomers transition to our community. The voice and support for the HWY 14 project continues as well as our support and facilitation of Network New Ulm leadership development program, Leadercast, New Ulm Area Personnel Association, Social Media Breakfast and our local young professionals group HYPE.
As you can see there is a lot going on at your Chamber of Commerce and I would like to encourage you to get involved. Sponsor or attend an event, recruit a new member, suggest an idea or share a concern. Your membership and involvement are making a positive difference to the New Ulm businesses and community. Thank you!
