The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Rod Marshall as the new Director with New Ulm Public Utilities! Rod has previous management experience as well as electric engineering, believes in courtesy before business, and most recently helped with the restoration effort in Puerto Rico. He comes from Washington, where he spent the last 30 years. He explained how utilities require many levels of expertise, a lot of care-taking and risk appropriate decision making. He described his time in Puerto Rico during the restoration effort as very rewarding. About 600 people worked together to restore an over-head electrical system that was down and leaving Puerto Rico residents without power for 8 months! He also shared that he enjoys the kindness of the New Ulm community. He’s adjusted well to be waved at while he’s walking down the street. Congratulations and welcome to New Ulm, Rod!
