The Willkommen Committee recently met with Rebecca Werner and Mary Ann Christensen of Big Ideas, Inc. Big Ideas, whose offices are located at 1227 N Broadway, Suite B., is a nonprofit organization set out to promote careers in trade. They noticed that more people were getting four-year degrees and were unable to find work, while employers were finding it hard to find young, qualified employees with trade skills, like carpenters, welders, or electricians. Big Ideas seeks to fix this problem by offering different classes in these areas to develop marketable job skills.  Classes, offered through Community Education, will begin in July at the New Ulm Public High School, with varying levels of difficulty. Anyone from age 13 to 113 can sign up!
