The Willkommen Committee welcomed The Backerei & Coffee Shop as new Chamber Members and enjoyed learning more about this New Ulm destination.  Cindy and Jerry Hauser purchased the business in 1994 and their daughter Kelsey has worked at the shop since she was 14.  They are the 4th owners of the bakery that dates back to the 1930’s in New Ulm. Jerry is the baker and a 13 hour day is not unusual and as Cindy says, ”to Jerry, baking is an art form”.  Cindy and Kelsey manage the rest of the business with Kelsey doing the scheduling and social media.  Every day two vans go out from the bakery for routes in Nicollet, Springfield, Sleepy Eye and other communities.  The Hausers appreciate all of the community support of the Backerei and the bakery is busier than ever.  Be sure to like them on Facebook and you can pay for your treats with Chamber Dollars!
